Sadie Wells Cox

Sadie Wells Cox, age 98, of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, at Methodist Medical Center.

She was born on July 5, 1915, in Fordsville, Ky., to Elijah Roscoe and Flaura Esther Shown Wells. She moved to Oak Ridge with her husband, Robert Dee Cox, in the 1940s. Mrs. Cox was a homemaker until the death of her husband in 1957. Thereafter, she was employed at Pine Valley Pharmacy for 25 years.

She trusted in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Sadie was an active member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Oak Ridge and counted the members of this church as her extended family. She often told her own family of activities and achievements of church members.

She was a loving and dedicated mother to Robert Wells Cox (Carla) and Sandra Cox Tuck (Tom), all of Knoxville.

She was the grandmother of Steven W. Cox (Jama) of Knoxville; Stacie Waters of Tampa, Fla.; Matthew Tuck of Knoxville; Greyson Tuck (Suzanne) of Memphis; and Andrew Tuck (Catherine) of Nashville. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Sunday, March 2, at Covenant Presbyterian Church with interment at Anderson Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 3000 Clearview Court, Oak Ridge, TN 37830 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.

Weatherford Mortuary served the family and an online guest book is available at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
