George Richard Martin Sr., age 68, of Oliver Springs and formerly of Clinton, passed away suddenly Saturday, March 1.
George was the owner of Martin’s Towing and was well-known in Anderson County and the surrounding area for driving his tow truck.
In his spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, fishing, playing spades, going to yard sales, buying scratch offs, and spending time with his grandkids. George was always there when you needed him, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Myrtle Ethel Martin; daughter, Jessica Martin; and sister, Bertha Nolan.
George is survived by his wife, Teresa Martin of Oliver Springs; sons, George Martin Jr. and wife Ashley, of Clinton, and Jared Martin; daughters, Rebecca Cook and husband Scotty, of Lake City, Haley Mowery, Mary Dillman and husband Kenny, of Clinton, Ethel Mae Hatfield and fiancé James, of Clinton, April Morrison and husband Dewayne, of Powell, Wanda Russell and husband Billy, of Corpus Christie, Texas; brother, Troy Martin of Clinton; and sisters, Leatha Lowe, Martha Espinoza, Carlene Johnson, Gladys Tsimbidis, and Linda McCarthey, all of Clinton. He is also survived by 15 special grandchildren, five special great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
George’s family received his friends on Tuesday, March 4, with his funeral service immediately following, all in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with Rev. Gary Smith officiating. His interment was Wednesday, March 5,  at Jarnigan Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.
