Marion Ann “Connie” Eversole

Marion Ann “Connie” Eversole, 83, of Oak Ridge, passed away on Feb. 22, 2014, at NHC in Oak Ridge.

She was born to parents Anthony and Sophia Kowalski Koncewicz on March 2, 1930, in Shenandoah, Penn.

Connie received her educational training at St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Philadelphia and her schooling to become a nurse anesthetist at Mt. Carmel Mercy in Detroit.

A veteran with the U.S. Air Force Medical, she met Dr. Earl Eversole, a flight surgeon, while both were serving in Kimpo, Korea, during her assignment as a nurse anesthetist. They became close and married six months later. She later worked in her field at the University of North Carolina.

Connie was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, where she ushered and volunteered in many capacities. She was past president of ASPCA, American Society for Prevention of Animal Cruelty.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Robert A. Koncewicz.

Her survivors include her husband, with whom she would have celebrated 61 years of marriage next week, Earl Eversole of Oak Ridge; sons, Robert Eversole and wife Kay of Knoxville, and David Blayne Eversole and wife Karen of Houston; daughter, Marian Lochry and husband Jim of Atlanta; sister, Gloria Rainis of Philadelphia, Penn.; grandchildren, Allison Van Camp and husband Rene, and Ryan Lochry and Elyssa Eversole; and precious canine friend, Casey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 212 N. Tulane Ave., Oak Ridge or to the Humane Society of Oak Ridge, 969 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.

The memorial service will be held Saturday, March 1, at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Dr. Craig Kallio officiating. The reception will follow at the church. There will be a private family graveside service at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
