Three road closures will be required in Oak Ridge between Feb. 27 and March 12 to allow sanitary sewer collection lines to be repaired or replaced.

The work is being done by city contractor Hurst Construction LLC. The schedule could be altered by bad weather.

The closure scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 27, and Friday, Feb. 28, will be California Avenue between Delaware Avenue and West Arrowwood Road. The closure is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“Local traffic will be able to access residences and businesses,” a city press release said. “Through traffic is advised to use Oak Ridge Turnpike as an alternative.”

From Monday, March 3, to Wednesday March 5, Tyson Road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“Local traffic will be able to access residences and businesses,” the release said. “Through traffic is advised to use either Oak Ridge Turnpike or East Tennessee Avenue as an alternative.”

The closure scheduled for Monday, March 10, through Wednesday, March 12, will be Florida Avenue north of East Tennessee Avenue. It will be closed between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

“Local traffic will be able to access residences and businesses,” the release said. “Through traffic is advised to use Georgia Avenue as an alternative.”

Questions pertaining to the road closures may be directed to the Oak Ridge Public Works Department at (865) 425-1875.

California Avenue between Delaware and Cedar Road is badly in need of resurfacing after the sewer work is done, its like riding on a washboard and has some big potholes. Hope it is on the schedule soon.
