Clifford Ray Bolton

Ray Clifford Bolton, age 73, of Harriman, passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at his home.

He was born Jan. 8, 1941, in Lafollette, the son of Birdie McKinley Bolton and Georgia Jones Bolton, who have both preceded him in death.

Mr. Bolton was a 1959 graduate of Fairmont West High School in Kettering, Ohio. He retired from the U.S. Navy, where he was a cryptologic technician senior chief. After he retired from the military, he obtained an associate degree from Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y., and worked as a registered nurse at the Methodist Medical Center and Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary. He later went to Utah, where he was a forester with the national park system. He enjoyed forestry, nature, and traveling.

He is survived by sons, Ray McKinley Bolton of Petros, and James Bennett Bolton and wife Michelle of Cedar Park, Texas; daughters, Holly Rae Wray of Oak Ridge and Heidi Rene` Perkins and husband Mark of Knoxville; the mother of his children, Peg Fiehtner of Oak Ridge; sisters, Pat J. Moses and husband Ronnie of Decatur, Tenn., and Joie Roberts and her husband Kevin of Lebanon, Ohio; three grandchildren, Felisha Belew and husband Travis of Lafollette, Raymond Wray of Oak Ridge, and Melissa Bolton of Cedar Park, Texas; and one great-grandson, Logan Belew of Lafollette.

In keeping with his wishes, Mr. Bolton will be cremated.

The family received friends on Thursday, Feb. 20,  from 5–7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.
