Betty Lorene Davis, age 84, a resident of Clinton and formerly of Oliver Springs, passed away Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.
Betty was born Sept. 6, 1929, in Williamsburg, Ky. At an early age, the family moved to the Fork Mountain community in Anderson County. Following her marriage, she and her late husband moved to the upper camp of Windrock mountain. She later moved to Windrock Road in Oliver Springs, where she lived most of her life.
Before her retirement, she was employed in the food service business at the Village Restaurant in Oak Ridge for several years.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a member of the Fork Mountain Baptist Church, on New River.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, William Carl “WC” Davis; by her parents, Walter and Grace Harness Frederick; by sisters, Callie Laws and Rheba Hackworth; and by brothers, Herman Frederick, James Frederick, and Walter Frederick Jr.
She is survived by a daughter, Marsha Davis Miller of Kingston, Ga.; by sons, Gary M. Davis of Clinton, Danny Davis of Oakdale, Tim Davis of Knoxville, and Wade Davis of Alabama; and by 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Davis is also survived by sisters, Carolyn Turner and husband Greg, and Ann Oldham, all of Clinton; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
The family received friends Thursday, Jan. 23, between 12 and 2 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m., with Rev. Ralph Wilson officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
