A 32-year-old man reported that a suspect leaving the Raceway gas station in Solway on Sunday afternoon first yelled obscenities toward him and then ran over his bicycle, authorities said.
The victim was examined by Rural Metro, but he said he was not injured in the incident, which occurred at 2:23 p.m. Sunday, according to a Knox County Sheriff’s Office report.
The suspect, who was reported to be driving a black Chevrolet Blazer, left before officers arrived.

The good news is that they have a tag number for the vehicle, bad news is they will probably do little, if anything, to punish the perpetrator. That bike was the main means of transportation for this man so he’s stuck walking till he finds another bike!

Is this someone you know, Steve?
Steve Dittner says
I don’t know him personally, but the Knoxville cycling community knows of him and his current needs
johnhuotari says
Okay. I’ll let you know if I hear any follow-up to this case.

I have a Trek 820 (16.5″ frame) that I can donate to this gentleman if it would help him get around in the short run…
Steve Dittner says
Colin, that’s great! I think that might be too small for him. You could donate it to the Knoxville Bicycle Collective http://www.knoxbikecollective.com/ If they have a bike that could fit him better that would help them in general. Here’s their email [email protected]

Any effort being made to help this man get another bike?
