ORHS Cheerleaders Decorate Hospitality House

Cheerleaders from Oak Ridge High School helped to decorate the Hospitality Houses of Methodist Medical Center for Christmas. The houses offer temporary lodging to patients and families who must travel for extended care at Methodist, even during the holidays. (Submitted photo)

Cheerleaders from Oak Ridge High School decorated hospitality houses at Methodist Medical Center for Christmas.

The Hospitality Houses provide a home away from home for cancer patients and families who must travel for extended medical care at Methodist Medical Center.

“But just because some guests can’t be home during the holiday season doesn’t mean they have to miss the festive feel of garland-draped porches and trees glittering with lights,” a press release said. “Thanks to the Oak Ridge High School cheerleaders, the Hospitality Houses at Methodist Medical Center will be a welcoming Christmas site for all the guests who stay there.”

The cheerleaders hung garlands and bows on the outside of the houses and decorated trees in the living rooms.

Participating cheerleaders included Madelynn Allison, Ragan Anderson, Hannah Bridgeman, Rachel Byrd, Courtney Cantrell, Kourtney Daigle, Lauren Dubose, Chelsie Dukes, Kaitlyn Elam, Arissa Freeman, Jasmine Gallaher, Elizabeth Greer, Kelly Mahoney, Jessica Parker, Sierra Parks, Hailey Whitaker, and Breanne Young.

“Thank you to these service-minded cheerleaders for truly bringing cheer and spirit to the guests of the Hospitality Houses!” the release said.

You can also support the Hospitality Houses by making a donation to Holiday Lights for Health, the annual fundraising campaign that benefits the houses. Donors can sponsor a light by making a gift in memory or honor of a loved one. Acknowledgements for gifts are sent to whomever the donor wishes  making it a perfect gift for the holidays, as well as a charitable donation.
