David Gilbert Gosslee, 91, of Clinton, passed away on Dec. 12, 2013, at Briarcliff Health Care Center in Oak Ridge.
David was born to parents Gilbert Leslie Gosslee and Ameilia Fredrich Leonard Gosslee on June 22, 1922, in Fargo, N.D.
He was a veteran with the Army Air Corp during World War II.
As a member of First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge, he enjoyed church activities, especially dealing with the shut-ins, as he delivered the bulletins to them at their homes.
He was a Fellow of the American Association of the Advancement of Science and the American Statistical Society, as he retired from Martin Marietta Energy Systems as a statistician.
David was family oriented and enjoyed playing golf.
David was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert Clark Gosslee in 1999; and one brother and four sisters.
His survivors include his wife, Lela Clair Berg Gosslee, of Clinton; sons, Kent Gosslee and wife Lois, of Alcoa, and David Scott Gosslee and wife Francie, of Nashville; grandchildren, Donna Michelle Swiney (Doug), John David Gosslee, Lydia Lorraine Gosslee, and Joshua Stephen Gosslee; great-grandchildren, Chad Joines and Kayla Joines; great-great-grandchildren, Colton and Cheyenne; and nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to First United Methodist Church, Missions Fund, 1350 Oak Ridge Turnpike, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
The memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Richard Edwards officiating. Interment in the First United Methodist Church Memorial Garden will follow the service. The family will receive friends at church from 1–2:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
