Each fall, ORNL Federal Credit Union employees help raise funds for the United Way of Anderson County, and  donations this year were up more than 65 percent, a press release said.

ORNL FCU raised roughly $66,000, the release said. The money came from employee donations, ORNL FCU’s corporate donation, and an interactive employee auction site. The fundraising total was up significantly from 2012.

The theme of this year’s internal fundraising effort was Uni and Ted Way’s Excellent Adventure, a parody of the movie “Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure,” the release said.

“Our employee United Way campaign was led by internal advocates who brought new energy and creativity to the fundraising effort,” said Chris Johnson, ORNL FCU president and chief executive officer. “The success of ORNL FCU’s internal United Way campaign was a direct effect of all employees joining together to help better the communities where we live, work, and play.”

UWAC and its 34 community partners have 51 vital programs that address three core community needs: basic human needs, youth development, and senior needs. For more information, call (865) 483-8431 or visit www.unitedwayandersoncounty.org.
