Families can kick off the Christmas season with Santa and help a local nonprofit volunteer organization at the same time by visiting the Comfort Inn Oak Ridge during December. The hotel is offering several different activities for the community to get in the holiday spirit with a portion of the proceeds from each event going to CASA of the Tennessee Heartland.

“We are so thankful to Comfort Inn for contacting us with this opportunity,” said Naomi Asher, executive director of CASA of the Tennessee Heartland. “Every dollar raised will help provide a voice in court for an abused and neglected child right here in our community.”

The Comfort Inn Oak Ridge will serve as the official site for “Pictures with Santa” throughout the holidays. T. Whigham Photography will be taking professional photos with Santa at the hotel from Friday, Nov. 29, through Saturday, Dec. 21. The hours are as follows: Monday through Friday from 4 p.m.-7:30 p.m.; Saturdays from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sundays from noon-6 p.m. One dollar from every photo taken will benefit CASA and will be matched by Enrichment Federal Credit Union in Oak Ridge.

The hotel will also host a special “Breakfast with Santa” on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Each breakfast will be limited to 100 children and a suggested donation of $5 per child is appreciated. All proceeds from the breakfast go to CASA. For more information or to make an online breakfast reservation, please visit www.comfortinnoakridge.com and click on the “Santa Claus” drop-down menu to access the “Breakfast with Santa” page.

In addition, Santa will be visiting the Comfort Inn on scheduled Friday and Saturday nights in December as part of a “Cookies and Milk with Santa” overnight package for families. Children will be able to watch Christmas movies and enjoy goodies in the hotel while they wait for their special time with St. Nick. Each child will also receive a Santa hat along with a Christmas ornament craft kit and a photo frame craft kit.

The package is available Dec. 6, 7, 13, and 14 and includes one room with double beds for $95 (maximum two adults, two children). Ten dollars from each room reserved will benefit CASA. Reservations can be made by calling the Comfort Inn Oak Ridge at (865) 481-8200 or by visiting the website at www.comfortinnoakridge.com.

Cinderella Carriage will also be offering horse and carriage rides from the Comfort Inn during December with all proceeds going to CASA. The cost is $5 per person and will be available the following days:

  • Friday, Dec. 6, from 4-7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 7, from 3-7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 8, from 2-6 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec. 13, from 4-7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 14, from 3-7 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 15, from 4-6 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec. 20, from 4-7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 21, from 3-7 p.m.

“Comfort Inn hopes that our support, along with that of Enrichment Federal Credit Union, Cinderella Carriage, and Santa will help CASA to fulfill their mission of providing a court-appointed volunteer advocate for every child who needs one,” said Kate Groover, sales director at the Comfort Inn Oak Ridge. “We sincerely hope that the community will visit Santa, take a carriage ride, or just drop by to make a donation to CASA this holiday season.”

The Comfort Inn hotel in Oak Ridge is located at 433 S. Rutgers Ave. For more information about any of these events or to make room reservations, call (800) 555-7830 or visit the Comfort Inn website at www.comfortinnoakridge.com.
