Rosa Estella Melton, age 102, of Andersonville, passed away on Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, at Golden Living Center—Windwood in Clinton.
Mrs. Melton was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Oliver Springs. She had been a member of the home demonstration club and enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, gardening, being with family, going to church, and singing.
Mrs. Melton was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard Oakley Melton; daughters, Emogene Nelson and Betty Snapp; and 10 brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Joyce Evelyn Hutchison, Cheryl Aslinger and husband Lonzy, Michelle Constance Murray and husband Gene, all of Clinton, and Janice Wetherington of Andersonville; 13 grandchildren, Bill Atterson, Chris Atterson, Ricky Snapp, Melody Archer, Vickie Caraway, Shelley Fraker, Wesley Caraway, Keith Snapp, Jennifer Hutchison, Robin Morgan, Stacy Anderson, William Anderson, and Amanda Pebley; 29 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mrs. Melton’s family will receive friends on Monday, Nov. 25, from 6–8 p.m. with her funeral service immediately following at 8 p.m., all in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with Pastor Garvin Walls officiating.
Her interment will be Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 2 p.m. at Norris Memorial Gardens in Norris.
Jones Mortuary in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
