Charles Edward Jackson, age 66, a resident of Decatur, Tenn., passed away Monday, Nov. 18, 2013, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Mr. Jackson was born Oct. 28, 1947, in Oak Ridge. He lived most of his life in the Oak Ridge and Oliver Springs area before moving to Decatur, in 2011.
Charles was a retired heavy equipment operator and truck driver who worked in both the coal and construction business before his retirement.
He served his country in the United States Army during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He received several medals, citations, campaign ribbons, and awards while serving. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post #1073 in Oak Ridge.
He enjoyed outdoor activities including fishing and hunting.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents, Charles S. Jackson and Beulah Mae Beck Jackson, and by a brother, Joe Jackson.
He is survived by sons, Charles Edward Jackson Jr. and Scott Lee Jackson of Oliver Springs, and Ernie Holbrook and wife Judy, of Decatur; by a daughter, Angie Jackson of Philadelphia, Pa.; by nine grandchildren; and by brothers, Robert Lynn Jackson of Decatur and Tony Jackson of Knoxville.
He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of special friends.
Graveside services were held Friday, Nov. 22, at 11 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens with Dr. Bryan Cooper officiating.
