Charles Hugh Pogue

Charles Hugh Pogue, age 88, of Oak Ridge, passed away Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013.

He was born Sept. 13, 1925, in Francisco, Ala., the son of Herbert and Justin Lovicie Bishop Pogue.

Mr. Pogue served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He came to Oak Ridge in 1960 and was part-owner of ANCO Supply.

He was a member of Robertsville Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Slagle Pogue; brothers, Theodore, Woodrow, Stanley, Norman, and Kenneth; sister, Ruth Ciez; and by infant daughter, Ellen Marguerite Pogue.

He is survived by son, David Pogue and wife Teresa; daughter, Charlotte Jones and husband Stoy; grandson, Stoy Charles Jones; brother, Billy Pogue; sisters, Josephine Gentry and husband Howard, Erline Shempert and husband Carlton; sisters-in-law, Polly Pogue and Leola Pogue Roach; and numerous nephews and nieces. He is also survived by very good friends, Celeste Varagona, Patricia Martin, Glen and Jean Hudson, Patrick Killeen, and Jack Forseman.

The family would like to thank the staff of Methodist Medical Center and Life Care Center of Morgan County for their wonderful care to Mr. Pogue.

In honoring Mr. Pogue’s wishes, all services will be private. The Volunteer State War Era Honor Guard provided military honors.
