Dollar General

The new Dollar General store in west Oak Ridge has a grand opening on Saturday.

Dollar General will celebrate the opening of its new store in west Oak Ridge on Saturday.

The grand opening celebration at 2095 Oak Ridge Turnpike starts at 8 a.m. and includes free prizes and special deals, a press release said. The first 50 adult shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag, among other giveaways.

“Dollar General is committed to delivering a pleasant shopping experience that includes a convenient location, a wide assortment of merchandise, and great prices on quality products,” said Dan Nieser, Dollar General’s senior vice president of real estate and store development. “We hope our Oak Ridge customers will enjoy shopping at Dollar General’s new location.”

In a press release, the company said its stores offer convenience and value to customers by “providing a focused selection of national name brands and private brands of food, housewares, seasonal items, cleaning supplies, basic apparel, and health/beauty products.”

Traditional Dollar General stores employ approximately six to 10 people, depending on the need. Anyone interested in joining the Dollar General team may visit the Career section at www.dollargeneral.com, the press release said.

The new store is near the intersection of West Lincoln Road, just west of Chuck’s Car Care Center. It’s one in a series of new and planned stores and businesses in Oak Ridge, including new developments along South Illinois Avenue in the Woodland neighborhood, the new Kroger Marketplace shopping center, and the redevelopment of the Oak Ridge Mall.

There is also a Dollar General store in east Oak Ridge at 600 Oak Ridge Turnpike, at the intersection with Florida Avenue.

Everyone come out and meet our friendly staff. There will be pens, cups, tote bags, “mean green” 16oz spray bottles, tortillas and some bagged chips. Our store is very well laid out and easily accessible. Normal business hours are 8am to 10pm Monday through Friday. Thanksgiving hours are 7am to 7pm and black Friday 7am to 10pm.
