Barry Lee Goldberg

Barry Lee Goldberg

Barry Lee Goldberg, 51, went home to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ, while surrounded by his family that loved him so much on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013, at Tennova Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, after suffering a massive heart attack.

Barry was born on Sept. 4, 1962, in the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge to Larry and Sue Daniels Goldberg.

Barry was a plumber, and his recent employment was with Engert of Knoxville. He graduated from Genesis Recovery of Lake City in August 2007. Because of his dedication to the program, he was asked to stay on as the resident supervisor, under the guidance of his mentor, Dan Shultz. Then Barry became a mentor to many of those men at Genesis, his stability and encouragement kept a lot of them from going back into their old way of thinking. Even when he started working full-time, he would still be up late at night with anyone who needed help. He wanted to give back and help other struggling men with their addiction. During this time, he was privileged to lead several to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. He was a graduate of Oliver Springs High School.

Barry was preceded in death by his parents, Larry and Sue Daniels Goldberg Webster; his stepfather, Alfred Webster; his grandparents, Shirley and Agnes Daniels, Raymond and Eva Goldberg, Smith and Pearl Webster; by uncles, Roy and Dennis R. Daniels, and Leroy Goldberg; and by aunts, Patsy Daniels, Kathleen Abels, Faye Griffin, and Gloria Rose.

Barry is survived by a daughter that he loved and adored, Jennifer Sue Goldberg of Louisville, Tenn.; an aunt, (that loved him so much) Phyllis White and husband Jerry of Oliver Springs; and cousins (that loved him like a brother), Kay and Danny Chase of Andersonville are left to mourn his passing. He is also survived by Robert (Bob) Goldberg and Judy Goldberg, Ailene Ferguson and husband Bill of Kingston, Wilma Reed of Trussville, Ala., and Willadeen Brooks and husband Bill of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., and by several other cousins who also loved him. Barry has a cousin, Mark Griffin of Middlesboro, Ky., that he considered as a brother.

Barry was cremated, and a celebration of his life will be held Sunday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Oak Ridge Memorial Park, and following the service, his ashes will interred in the same grave as his loving mother at the memorial park.

Sharp Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. An online guest book is available at www.sharpfh.com.
