Obituary: Rebecca Lea Hicks

Rebecca Lea Hicks, age 60, a resident of Harriman, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at her home, while surrounded by her family.

Rebecca was born Jan. 15, 1953, in Harriman. She was a lifelong resident of this area.

She was a loving mother and grandmother, a faithful Christian, and a member of the Elverton Primitive Baptist Church. She loved attending worship service and taking care of her grandchildren.

Before her disability she was employed as a D.C.T. Packer at Kimble Chase in Rockwood.

Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas William Smith and Martha Elizabeth Hensley Smith; by her husband of 37 years, Clifford Lee Hicks; and by a sister, Betty Jean Baker.

Rebecca is survived by daughters, Rhonda Jean Collins and husband Michael of Oliver Springs, Misty Renee Webb and husband Richard of Harriman; by grandchildren, Kaleb, Rebekah, and Matthew Webb, and Steven, Jason, and Courtney Collins; by a brother, Mike Smith and wife Martha of Knoxville; and by sisters, Lucy Smith of Harriman, Kathy Smith of Rockwood, Alice Davis and husband Jackie of Harriman, Branda Stamps and husband Harvey of Monterey, and Judy Scarbrough of Lenoir City.

She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Danny Gouge and wife Vickie of Harriman; by sisters-in-law, Brenda Patterson and husband Lawrence of Oliver Springs, and Judy Orbesen and husband Michael of Harriman; by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends, including Danny and Nancy Cornett, Lacy and Sarah Cornett, Bridget Woodward, Stacie Newport and Lee Nance, and all her family at the Elverton Primitive Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 4, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 1 p.m. at the Elverton Primitive Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the Elverton Cemetery.
