It was in need of renovations, and the middle school room at Girls Inc. of Oak Ridge has received a makeover from the Oak Ridge Leadership Class of 2013, a press release said.

The Leadership Class had selected Girls Inc. as their 2013 community project, and members repainted the walls of the middle school room, made wall-mounted tables with raised plugs for electronic devices, created a study area, and added new pillows, organizer bins, tables, lamps, and chairs, the release said.

“The girls were not allowed in the room for several days, and this built the anticipation for the ‘Big Room Reveal,'” the press release said. “The girls were very excited during the ribbon-cutting, and all celebrated with cake afterward, joined by many members of the Leadership Oak Ridge crew. Girls Inc. is beyond thankful for what an amazing job Leadership Oak Ridge has done to their facility.”

They didn’t stop there though. Leadership Oak Ridge Class of 2013 also wants to resurface the Girls Inc. tennis courts.

“They are working with many generous sponsors and donors to resurface and repaint the back courts that are used for tennis and basketball for not only the girls, but community members as well,” the release said. Sponsors are still welcomed for this project. For more information about becoming a sponsor, contact Rhoni Basden at (865) 482-4475 or rbasden@girlsincor.net.

I am part of the Leadership Class of 2013, we were very happy to complete this portion of our project, but will be thrilled if we can give the girls new courts to play safely on!
