Virgle O. Reeder

Virgle O. Reeder, age 75, a resident of Harriman, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Mr. Reeder was born Oct. 23, 1937, in the New River Community of Anderson County. During his early childhood, the family moved to Oliver Springs. He later lived in Hazel Park and Madison Heights Michigan before moving back home to Tennessee in 1969.

He retired as a utility engineer at the Y-12 federal plant in Oak Ridge.

Virgil was an outdoorsman who enjoyed flower gardening, feeding and watching hummingbirds, and watching NASCAR.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgle W. Reeder and Eliza Pritchett Reeder; by his wife of 55 years, Joyce D. King Reeder; by brothers, Pete and Herbert Reeder; and by sisters, Gerry Schultz, Ruby Wright, and Noveline Fuller.

Mr. Reeder is survived by a daughter, Cynthia Reeder McCarroll of Harriman, and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends including, Richard and Elizabeth Wheeler.

The family received friends Friday, Oct. 18, between 5 and 7 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating. Burial and graveside services were held Saturday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m. at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
