Sandra Ann “Sandy” Kimblin

Sandra Ann “Sandy” Kimblin, age 76, a resident of Harriman, passed away Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge.

Mrs. Kimblin was born Oct. 20, 1936, in Coalfield. She was a lifelong resident of this area.

Sandra was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Orchard View Baptist Church.

Before her retirement, she was employed as a barrier operator at the K-25 federal plant.

Her hobbies included canning, cooking for her family, and camping, and she especially enjoyed collecting dolls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Walter Brock and Jeanette Johnson Brock; by a daughter, Marilyn Kay Kimblin; by a son, Charles Kimblin and wife Sheila; by a brother, Dave Brock; and by a son-in-law, Scott Smith.

Sandra is survived by her husband, James Eugene “Gene” Kimblin of Harriman; by a son, Eddie Joe “Jody” Kimblin of Harriman; by daughters, Catherine Mutter and husband Tip of Harriman, and Beverly Smith of Louisville, Tenn.; by five grandchildren, James “Jamie” Gray and wife Becky, Jessica Carter and husband Waylon, Cassie Mutter and companion Zac Mattingly, Ashley Bookout and husband Jeremy, and Charlie Jo Kimblin; and by nine great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by sisters, Pat Humphrey and husband Vaughn of Harriman, and Nancy Johnson and husband David of Rockwood; by brothers, Don Brock and wife Sandy of Rockwood, and Bobby Brock and wife Jan of Harriman; and by several cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends, including her eldest great-grandson, Joey Gray, the Steve Mayton family, and Jan Brock.

The family received friends Tuesday, Oct. 15, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Jeff Hughes officiating.

Burial and graveside services were private at the Kimblin Family Cemetery.
