Carl Leonard Hagaman Jr., age 85, of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at his home.

He was born April 24, 1928, in Harlan, Ky., the son of Carl L. Hagaman Sr. and Mabel Glynn Brown Hagaman. The Hagamans were one of the first families to come to Oak Ridge and one of the first to move into a trailer for civilian workers.

Mr. Hagaman was a 1945 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. During high school, he worked at the post office. Mr. Hagaman and his father were co-owners of Hagaman Electric Company. He served on the Insurance/Retirement Committee of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and as chairman of that committee for two terms. He was also a member of the ’43 Club.

In earlier years, he was very involved in the Boys Club. He was an avid animal lover and he enjoyed buying and selling real estate.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ida Saathoff Hagaman; daughter, Patti Grady and husband Steve of Oak Ridge; sister, Virginia Cousins of Oak Ridge; three grandchildren, Daniel Grady of San Diego, Calif., Jennifer Grady of Asheville, N.C., and Sarah Grady of Boone, N.C.; many special nieces and nephews; and special friend, Donnie Knight of Clinton.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Sept. 24, from 10–11 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church. The funeral will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Damos officiating. The burial will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family asks that any memorials be made to Grace Lutheran Church, 131 West Gettysburg, Oak Ridge, TN 37830 or the local animal shelter.

Weatherford Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements. An online guest book can be signed at www.weatherfordmortuary.com.
