Mary Elizabeth Perez, age 86, a resident of Oliver Springs, died Sept. 14, 2013, at her home.
Mrs. Perez was born to Ezra Edward and Ida May Murphy in Wilson County, Tenn., on June 25, 1927. She married Lee Douglas Perez on June 25, 1950, in Ottawa, Kansas. Mrs. Perez lived in Ottawa for 38 years before moving back to Tennessee in 1987.
In Kansas and Tennessee, Mary worked in garment factories and did beautiful seamstress work for family and friends on the side. She was a master seamstress. Family and friends were very important to Mary and she cherished them dearly.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband, parents, five brothers, and two sisters, and a son-in-law.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Winblade of Jesup, Iowa; by a son Frederick Lee Perez and wife Peggy of Shawnee, Kansas; by grandsons, Matt Winblade and wife Karen of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Mike Winblade and wife Kelli of Mason City, Iowa; by granddaughters, Jennifer Perez, Alana Perez, and Nichole Perez, all of Chicago; by great-grandchildren, Garrett Winblade and Kylie Winblade of Sioux Falls, S.D.; and by nieces and nephews, Alisa Disney and husband Marvin, Bobby Cox and wife Yvonne, Gail Cox, and Shiela Brown and husband, Eddie.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Terry Braden officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. CST at the Poplar Hill Cemetery in Lebanon, Tenn. Pallbearers will be: Matthew Winblade, Michael Winblade, Marvin Disney, Eddie Brown, Bobby Cox, Burl Alcorn, Ben Gilmore, and Harold Compton.
