A.K. Silvey, age 86, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013, at his home.
A.K. was born on June 8, 1927, in Oliver Springs. He was a lifelong resident of this area.
Mr. Silvey was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Before his retirement, he was employed as a builder in the construction business. His hobbies included gardening and woodworking. He was a member of the Church of God.
A.K. is preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Mildred Marie Silvey; by brothers, Douglas Silvey, Meredith Silvey, and Newt Silvey; and by sisters, Ruby Lowe and Anna Lou Applind.
Mr. Silvey is survived by a daughter, Mary Etta Harvey and husband D.M. “Doc†of Harriman; by a son, Roy Silvey and wife Virginia of Oliver Springs; by grandchildren, Sonya Thomas and husband Kenny of Knoxville, Mike Harvey and wife Melissa of Oliver Springs, Randy Silvey and wife Jill of Oliver Springs, and Raeshell Maples and husband Wayne of Oliver Springs; by great-grandchildren, Stephanie Owens, Tiffany Arney, Amber Harvey, Josh Harvey, Jomack Silvey, Parker Silvey, and Elizabeth Maples; and by five great-great-grandchildren, Alex, Malachi, Kayleigh, Justice, and Evan.
He is also survived by a brother, Donald “Bill†Silvey and wife Mary of Oliver Springs, and by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends.
The family will receive friends, Tuesday, Sept. 17, between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Garvan Walls officiating. Burial and graveside services will follow at Anderson Memorial Gardens.
