The Y-12 National Security Complex received awards for its public relations, technical communications, and films during three events earlier this year.

The Volunteer Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America held their annual “V” Awards for public relations programs and products, and Y-12 received six awards, including a first-place honor for The Y-12 Times, the employee newsletter. Other award winners included the Human Performance Improvement/Safety Culture campaign, Innovation poster series, UPFront newsletter, The Y-12 Report, and Y-12 Sustainability communications. All entries were evaluated by judges from a PRSA chapter in California.

Y-12 also was well represented at the East Tennessee Chapter of the Society of Technical Communication awards event. Judged by members of various Tennessee chapters and others in related fields of work, Y-12 won two top honors with Distinguished awards for The Y-12 Report and a YSource intranet story about radiation dose monitoring. Y-12 also was recognized with seven additional awards from STC-ETC.

Y-12 received four awards at WorldFest Houston, which is promoted as the world’s oldest independent film festival. Y-12 awards included top honors for the film “Lifting the Veil,” part of the A Nuclear Family video series. In that same series, an episode titled “A Race for Peace” won a Silver Remi along with “Y-12, Making the World a Safer Place.” Y-12 also won a Bronze Remi for the video “VPP Awareness.”
