Lon Bird

Roane State Community College faculty member Casey Cobb and staff members Lon Bird and Rebecca Calfee have been honored for their work.

Cobb, associate professor of history, received the 2013 Sarah Ellen Benroth Award for Outstanding Teaching.

Bird, multimedia specialist, was named the college’s 2013 outstanding support staff member.

Calfee, manager for Continuing Healthcare and Safety Education, was named the 2013 administrative staff member of the year.

Roane State is a two-year college providing transfer curricula, career-preparation programs and continuing education. Founded in 1971, the college has campuses in Crossville, Harriman, Huntsville, Jamestown, Knoxville, LaFollette, Lenoir City, Oak Ridge and Wartburg.

    Casey Cobb was by far one of the best teachers I ever had. He is great at making you take a more detailed and personal look at events in history.
