Patricia Burris Hair

Patricia Burris Hair, age 79, of Oak Ridge, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 31, at Park West Medical Center in Knoxville.

She is survived by her husband, Carl E. “Eddie” Hair Sr. of Oak Ridge; son, Carl E. “Eddie” Hair Jr., of Oak Ridge; daughter Lisa West and husband Greg of Oneida; sister, Deloris Ann “Snookie” Foster of York, S.C.; and nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Pat was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, as well as a dedicated servant to our Lord and Savior. She served as church organist at Glenwood Baptist Church in Oak Ridge for more than 25 years and had a passion for music, mission work, and Bible school. She was a beacon of light to anyone around her.

Growing up in Clinton, Pat was a cheerleader, majorette, and band member throughout high school. She attended Tennessee Tech in 1951, where she was also a majorette.

Her hobbies included spending time with family, music, playing the organ and piano, tennis, bridge, and swimming.

Employed by AEC in the early ’50s, Pat would later work part-time at Merle Norman Cosmetics as well as with Volunteer Realty Company.

The family will receive friends Friday, Aug. 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 7 p.m. with Dr. Mark Walton and Dr. Steve McDonald officiating. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton.

The family asks that memorials be made to the Television Ministry at Calvary Baptist Church, Glenwood Baptist Church, or the Pat Summit Foundation.
