Oak Ridge Unitarian Universalist Church is having a Big Music Sunday this weekend.

The service starts at 10 a.m. Sunday at the UU church at 1500 Oak Ridge Turnpike, and the community is invited, a press release said.

“The theme of the service will be about how life often takes us in unexpected directions, feeling lost at times and then finding our way back,” the release said. “The message will be delivered through the music selected by Music Director Wendel Werner and performed by the ORUUC choir.”

Werner will bring the service to a close with Ysaye Barnwell’s powerful arrangement of “Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me ‘Round.” Rooted deeply in African-American culture, the song was popular during the civil rights era, giving shape to its views on nonviolent activism, the press release said. Typical of Barnwell’s style, the song will be sung a cappella.

For more information on the Sunday service, call the ORUUC at (865) 483-6761.
