Everyone is invited to learn how Roane State Community College’s advanced manufacturing programs can help their career at an open house on Tuesday, July 30, at the Clinton Higher Education and Workforce Training Facility at 214 Nave St. in Clinton.
The open house is scheduled from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Visitors are welcome to drop by anytime to learn more about the programs. Employers are also encouraged to attend to learn more about training opportunities for their employees.
The open house will feature the following programs:
- Job training through the Advanced Materials Training and Education Center, or AMTEC: AMTEC offers up to 14 weeks of courses in OSHA safety certification, forklift operation, computer-aided drafting and design, composites, solar energy, and more. Many students can take AMTEC courses at no cost.
- Composite materials certificate: This one-year program teaches students about working with composite materials such as carbon fiber, which industry experts say is key to the future of many industries including automotive and boating. Individuals who already have a two-year degree or a four-year degree may qualify to take some of Roane State’s composite materials courses at no cost.
- Mechatronics certificate: This one-year program provides students opportunities to learn how to maintain and repair high-tech automated machines that serve the advanced manufacturing industry. Mechatronics combines instruction in electronics, mechanics, computer science, robotics, and more.
The July 30 open house in Clinton will give visitors a chance to learn more about Roane State advanced manufacturing programs, speak with industries interested in graduates from these programs, and see demonstrations of advanced materials and manufacturing technology such as 3-D printing.
