Mart Kennedy

Mart Kennedy, age 46, a resident of the Stephens Community in Morgan County, passed away Wednesday, July 17, at Methodist Medical Center.

Mart was born June 15, 1967, in Campbell County. He continued to live in Campbell County until his move to the Stephens Community in 1989.

Before his disability, he worked as a coal miner. His hobbies included camping, fishing, and outdoor activities.

He was a member of the Whitehouse Baptist Church in the Beechfork Community in Campbell County.

Mart was preceded in death by his parents, Starling and Earie Kennedy, and by brothers, Silas, Hobert, Dow, and Jimmy Ray Kennedy.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Patricia Carroll Kennedy of Stephens; by a son, Darrell Kennedy and wife Elizabeth of Oliver Springs; by brothers, Tommy Kennedy of Campbell County, Herbert Kennedy and wife Verdie of Coalfield, Ralph Kennedy and wife Pam of Beechfork; and by sisters, Judy Mae Hawkins of Lake City, Christine Huckaby of Lake City, Irene Carroll of Beechfork, Chestine Jones and husband Ronnie of Beechfork, Evadean Marlow of Beechfork, and Jearline Ward and husband Ralph of Jacksboro.

Mart is also survived by a uncle, J.C. Wilmouth and wife Linda of Cookville, and a host of special nieces and nephews, and many special friends.

The family received friends Friday, July 19, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral was held Saturday, July 20, at 1 p.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Lonnie Lowe officiating. Burial followed at the Phillips Cemetery.
