Dorothy Shultz Gibson

Dorothy Shultz Gibson of Oak Ridge passed away on July 10 at Methodist Medical Center.

Dorothy was born to parents Edward and Rosalia Spano Shultz on Nov. 29, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y.

She worked for Martin Marietta Energy Systems at the X-10 facility as a procurement specialist and was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Dorothy enjoyed all handicrafts especially knitting and crocheting.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Edward and Rosalia Spano Shultz; husband, Ralph Gibson; stepfather, Theodore Koch; brother, Edward Shultz; infant sister; and son-in-law, Jerry Seiber.

Her survivors include daughters, Karen Seiber, of Oliver Springs and Leah Ashley (Ray Beckner), of Knoxville; son, Phillip Gibson, of Clarkston, Ga.; grandchildren, Jeremy Ashley (Catie Cliff), of Alcoa, Brach Seiber, of Harriman, Rachel Beckner (Bryce Rayburn), of Knoxville; godson, Mitchell Vineyard, of Oak Ridge; as well as a host of friends.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Briarcliff Health Care Center for their care and support.

The family will receive friends Friday, July 12, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral service begins at 7:30 p.m. with Father Bill Gahagan officiating. The interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to St. Mary’s Food Pantry, 323 Vermont Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN 37830: Attention Elizabeth Fisher or to Project Linus of East Tennessee, c/o Deb Miller, 282 Orchard Valley Drive, Harriman, Tennessee 37748.
