Sarah Elizabeth “Lizzie” Phillips

Sarah Elizabeth “Lizzie” Phillips, age 61, a resident of Oliver Springs, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 7, at Methodist Medical Center.

Ms. Phillips was born April 11, 1952, in the New River Community of Anderson County. She continued living on New River until her move to Oliver Springs in 2002.

Elizabeth was a faithful Christian and a member of New Mountain View Baptist Church. She was a former member and worshiped at Rock Hill Baptist Church on New River for most of her life. She loved spending time with family and friends, attending worship service and singing.

Ms. Phillips was preceded in death by her parents, Bart Phillips and Opal Mae Graham Phillips, and by two brothers, Danny and Robert Phillips.

She is survived by a sister, Mary C. Liske, and a special friend, Al, of Davenport, Iowa; by four brothers, Bobby Gene Phillips and wife Debbie of New River, Benny Earl Phillips and wife Shelley of Oliver Springs, Leonard Ray Phillips and wife Barbara of New River, and Stanley Gilbert Phillips of Knoxville; and by her fiancée, Jimmy Goad of Oliver Springs.

She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Sherry Smith, Sheila Ruiz, Misty Bean, Matthew Phillips, Nathan Phillips, Kelley Hoefer, Kendra Phillips, Andrew Phillips, and Cheyenne Phillips; by several great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved dearly; and by her brothers and sisters in Christ at both New Mountain View Baptist Church and Rock Hill Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 9, between 6 and 9 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Wednesday, July 10, at 2 p.m. at Rock Hill Baptist Church with pastors Otis Phillips, Houston Carroll, Mike Wankowski, and Murl Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at the New Pilot Cemetery.
