Donald “Thump” Wayne Posey, age 45, of Powell, died Wednesday, June 26, in Knoxville.
He was born March 19, 1968, in Oak Ridge.
Donald’s whole life revolved around music. He was producer of the record label N.O.C as well as Dinero Boyz and Manhattan Project. He was a well-known rapper in the area, going by the name of “Donald Thump,” aka “The Mayor.”
Donald was preceded in death by his adopted mother, Mary Lou Posey, who raised him. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Eric Wright and Carl Brabson.
He is survived by his wife of three years, Kimberly Michelle Kimsey Posey; his mother, Barbara Lucas; children, Chris, Derek, Courtney, India, Daniel “Brelum,” Donald Jr., Alexus, Noah, and Deja, and his stepchildren, Alexis and Keeondre; brothers, Alex Wright, Quincy Wright, Shawn Wright, Hubert Wright, and Walt Wright; sister, Cornelia Wright; god-brother, Mike Brabson; grandchildren, Preston, Jordan, and Jayden; special friend, Roy Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. In keeping with his wishes, cremation will follow.
The family asks that any memorials be made to Weatherford Mortuary to help defray funeral costs.
