Wesley “Wes” Martin Johnson Jr., of Kingston, passed away Monday, June 24, in Knoxville.
Wes was born on Jan. 6, 1943, in Chattanooga to Pauline Peden Johnson and Wesley Martin Johnson Sr.
He graduated from the University of Tennessee, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order, with a degree in engineering. He later earned a master’s degree from George Washington University. While at UT, Wes met Sheryl Maxine Reagan Johnson, who would become his loving wife for 41 years.
After graduation, Wes became a special agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Wes retired after thirty years with the FBI, and he and Sheryl moved back to Tennessee. Wes was a member of the Church of Christ, most recently worshipping with the Hardin Valley Church of Christ.
Sheryl passed away in 2008 after a long illness, during which Wes was a loving and dedicated caretaker. He is survived by his two sons, Scott Andrew Johnson and Steven Alex Johnson; their wives Jennifer and Bonnie; grandchildren Reagan, Mackenzie, Casey, Cameron, and Andrew; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Caroline and Craig Polakowski; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Rex and Margy Reagan; and numerous cousins.
The family received friends at the Hardin Valley Church of Christ on Friday, July 5, from 5 p.m. until 6 p.m., with the funeral following at 6 p.m. A graveside service will take place at Oak Ridge Memorial Park on Saturday, July 6, at 11 a.m.
