Wendall Ray Thornton, age 46, of Heiskell passed away Monday, June 10, at Tennova-North Knoxville Medical Center.
Wendall loved spending most of his time with his nieces and nephews, to whom he was better known as Uncle “Doo-Da.†He will be dearly missed.
Wendall is preceded in death by his parents, William Riley and Dollie Rose Thornton, and sister Mable Ruth Thornton.
Wendall is survived by his son, Daniel Thornton, of Oak Ridge, daughters; Amber Lawson of Oak Ridge and Crystal Thornton of Clinton; brothers, Bill Thornton of Winter Haven, Fla., Larry and Tina Thornton of Briceville, Ben and Carolyn Thornton of Frost Bottom, and Gary and Brenda Thornton of Heiskell; grandchildren, Christian and Hunter; and special friends, Rose Ann Brown of Lake City and Ronnie Smiddy of Lake City.
Wendell’s family will receive his friends, Thursday, June 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. with his memorial service to follow at 8 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary with Rev. Larry Thornton and Rev. Robby Owens officiating. His interment will be at the Graves Gap Baptist Church in Briceville.
Jones Mortuary in Clinton is in charge of all arrangements.
