Gregory Paul Giles

Gregory Paul Giles, of Oak Ridge, a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, left this life June 7. He passed away in his home. He was born May 12, 1959, and was 54 years old. He left us too soon and will be greatly missed.

Greg was a 1977 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and was a painter by trade. He was an avid Vols fan, a swimmer, runner, and animal lover.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Gayle Giles, and mother, Joanne Perrell Giles.

He is survived by sister, Brenda Giles Johnson and husband Wallace, of Knoxville; brothers, Thomas R. Giles and wife Kathleen, of Oak Ridge and Michael A. Giles and wife Janet, of Big Stone Gap, Va.; nieces, Meredith Johnson Brown, Erin Johnson Brooke, and Laura Giles Skibinski; and nephew, Thomas “T.J.” Giles; great-nieces and nephews, Mikaela and Amelia Skibinski, Ethan and Cooper Brooke, and Michael Thomas Giles, who was born May 12, 2013, his great-uncle’s birthday. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins, and the many friends with whom he loved to hang out.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Martin Fischer officiating. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family asks that memorials be made to the Salvation Army.
