Peggy Justice Gibson, age 66, a resident of Oliver Springs, passed away Friday, June 7, at her home.
Peggy was born Jan. 21, 1947, in the New River Community of Anderson County. She has lived in Oliver Springs since 1951.
She began her employment at the K-25 Federal Plant in October of 1975, and she continued working at K-25 until December 1981. She transferred to the Y-12 Plant in January of 1982, where she continued to work. She was very appreciative of the management and her co-workers at the Y-12 plant during her illness.
She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and spending time with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, James H. Gibson Jr.; by her father, Hugh Dean Justice; by sisters, Juanita and Shirley Justice; and by a sister-in-law, Linda Justice.
Peggy is survived by her mother, Agnes Louise Justice; by a daughter, Stacie Bourff and husband Glenn, and by a son, James Gibson III, all of Oliver Springs; and by grandchildren, Madison Bourff, Kaylin Gibson, Kyleigh Lewallen, and Zane Gibson.
She is also survived by a sister, Debbie Justice of Oliver Springs; by brothers, Kenneth Justice of Oliver Springs, Terry Justice and wife Lynn, of Andersonville, and Jerry Justice and wife Monday, of Oliver Springs; and by several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and special friends, including Ken Holt of Nashville.
The family received friends between 6 and 8 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral followed at 8 p.m. with Pastor Matt Reed officiating. Burial and graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 10, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.
The family expresses their gratitude to Amedisys Hospice of Knoxville, and to the staff and nurses of Professional Case Management.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Oliver Springs Historical Society and/or the Blair Fire Department.
