Martha Katherine Carter

Martha Katherine Carter, age 48, a resident of Oak Ridge, passed away Friday, June 7, at her home.

Kathy was born on April 5, 1965, in Nashville. She was a lifelong resident of Oak Ridge.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, and she was a member of the Faith Promise Church in Oak Ridge.

Kathy enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing with her dogs, and spending time with family.

Before her disability, she was employed by the Oak Ridge school system in food service.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Rosemary Patton Carter.

Kathy is survived by her father, Buford Carter of Knoxville; by children, Kelly Nicole Lambert and husband Jordan, of Oliver Springs, Holly Rose Boshears of Clinton, Latasha Carter of North Carolina, and Dakota Carter and Tristan Carter, both of Oak Ridge; and by grandchildren, Colton, Connor, and Anika.

She is also survived by two brothers, Edwin Carter of Oak Ridge and Scott Carter of Morganton, N.C.; by a sister, Jama Griffith and husband Mark, of Knoxville; by nephews, Matt Kwiecien and Josh Griffith; by a niece, Katie Griffith; and extended family members and special friends, including Reggie, Rebecca, and Lissa Roach.

A memorial service will be held Monday, June 10, at 6 p.m. at the Friendly Welcome Baptist Church, with Pastor Aaron Nance officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to SunTrust Bank Oak Ridge, c/o Colton and Connor Lambert.

Sharp Funeral Home is serving the family of Martha Katherine Carter.
