Storm blows down trees in west Oak Ridge

Tree Falls on House

A large white oak fell on a home in west Oak Ridge on Sunday afternoon, damaging a garage and deck railing.

Trees fell on several roadways and at least one home in west Oak Ridge during a short, severe storm Sunday afternoon.

There were reports of hail in some parts of East Tennessee, and the storm brought high winds. In Oak Ridge, trees fell on or along Gum Hollow Road, Mason Lane, and Westover Drive.

Tree Falls on Westover Drive

A tree fell on power lines and across Westover Drive during a short, severe storm Sunday afternoon.

Roadways such as Wisconsin and Oklahoma avenues were covered in small branches.

A large white oak fell on a home in west Oak Ridge, damaging a garage and deck railing. No one was hurt.

Sharon Holmes was in the home and watched through a window as the tree fell. She said it been raining hard and very windy before the tree fell.

Trees on Gum Hollow Road

Three trees fell on Gum Hollow Road at the Oak Ridge Country Club.

Another large tree fell across power lines on Westover Drive.

A few residents reported that they had lost power, although it wasn’t immediately clear how widespread the outages were.

      I didn’t hear about that one. Seems like most of the reports were coming from west Oak Ridge.

    The power was off in Greenview from 1845 to 1900.
