Kevin Corbett has been named B&W Y-12 vice president of quality assurance. He is replacing Janice Christman, who will be retiring from the Y-12 National Security Complex at the end of April.

With 32 years of experience, Corbett has managed quality programs on projects and installations for the U.S. Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration, the Department of Defense, and the Department of State, as well as commercial nuclear power facilities and large-scale infrastructure programs valued at more than $20 billion.

“The B&W Y-12 team certainly will benefit from Kevin’s broad range of experience,” said B&W Y-12 President and General Manager Chuck Spencer. “With quality being a key component of everything we do at Y-12, Kevin’s expertise will help us ensure quality is an integral part of our culture.”

Corbett’s most recent position was working as the quality assurance operations manager for Bechtel’s government services business unit (Bechtel Services and Infrastructure Inc., or BSII), and he was responsible for administrative management of all quality programs and personnel on BSII projects worldwide. In this role, Corbett had functional responsibility for operational aspects of all quality programs across BSII’s $6 billion per year operations involving more than 20,000 personnel.

Projects within his functional purview included the Y-12 National Security Complex, the Pantex Plant, Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, the Hanford Tank Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant, the Pueblo and Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plants, the Chernobyl New Safe Confinement Project, Kwajalein Range Services, the Sellafield Waste Retrieval program in the UK, and the Savannah River Remediation project.

Corbett has a bachelor’s degree from SUNY Empire State College in Community and Health Services, and a master’s of Business Administration degree from Dowling College.
