Ida Page Maddox, age 83, of Oak Ridge, passed away Sunday, April 14, at her home.
She was born April 20, 1929, in Fayetteville, Tenn., the daughter of John Calvin Goodrich and Lida Lee Bruton Goodrich.
Mrs. Maddox retired from the city of Fayetteville, where she was the city court clerk for 20 years.
In 1995, she moved to Oak Ridge to be near her family. While in Fayetteville, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and upon her move to Oak Ridge became a member of Kern Memorial United Methodist Church. She enjoyed the company of her canine companions and reading, and she was an avid follower and supporter of national politics. She also greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband B. P. Maddox in 1973 and by sister Elizabeth Farrar and brother John C. “Jack” Goodrich Jr.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Linda Maddox of Oak Ridge;Â grandchildren, Leslie Helms and husband Jonathan of Greenville, S.C., and Ellen Petree and husband Phil of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Henry and Bonnie Helms, and Caroline and Molly Petree; nephews, Bob Farrar of Bowie, Md., and John H. Goodrich of Lynchburg, Tenn.; and special caregivers, Lynda Lewis, Cathy Cope, and Millie Campbell.
The family received friends Wednesday, April 17, from 2-4 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary in Oak Ridge. The funeral followed at 4 p.m. with Karen Spearman, the congregational care minister of Kern Memorial United Methodist Church, officiating.
The family will also receive friends on Thursday, April 18, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Tenn. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Fayetteville.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Kern Memorial United Methodist Church, 451 East Tennessee Avenue, Oak Ridge, TN 37830.
