E. Malcolm Massey

E. Malcolm Massey, 85, of Knoxville and formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away on April 5 at Parkwest Medical Center.

He was born to parents Charles and Lindsey Apple Massey on April 2, 1928, in Cookeville.

Malcolm worked for Technicon as a computer field technician. He was a lifelong member of the Nazarene faith, a member of First Church of The Nazarene in Oak Ridge, where he was a charter member.

Among his hobbies and interests, he was an avid golfer, enjoyed ceramics, painting, tinkering with old cars and bicycles, and a collector of replica motor vehicles.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Nell Louise Massey in 2005; and by brother, Edwin Harold Massey of Louisiana.

Survivors include children, Mike and wife Laura, of Oak Ridge, Jan, of Highland Village, Texas, Steve and wife Carmen, of Plano, Texas, Cheryl and husband David, of Roanoke, Texas; sister, Sybil Lenderman and husband Stowe, of Knoxville; step-mother, Wanda Massey, of Oak Ridge; three nephews; one niece; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

The family received friends Monday, April 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Weatherford Mortuary. The funeral service was held in the chapel of the mortuary at 8 p.m.

The graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 9, at 10:30 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be in the form of donations to Children’s Quest in care of Concord Baptist Church in Farragut.
