The 12th Annual Big Ed’s Memorial Golf Tournament on Friday, April 26, continues a long tradition that combines a great day of golf with active commitment to youth and families. The Tournament supports Community Mediation Services’ work with youths and families and honors the legacy of “Big Ed” Neusel, founder of Big Ed’s Pizza, and his belief in giving to others while seeking recognition from no one.

The Oak Ridge Country Club provides a beautiful and challenging venue for the Big Ed’s Memorial Tournament. The early registration deadline is April 15 with late registration available. Registration forms are available by calling (865) 483-6888 or e-mailing info@cms-tn.org.

The Tournament is a two-session, scramble format with a morning tee time of 8 a.m. and an afternoon tee time of 1:30 p.m. Complimentary continental breakfast, beverage cart, and lunch as well as a variety of prize contests are available: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishing teams, longest drive (men and women), Par 3 Closest to the Hole, and Putting Contest. A new crew cab pick-up truck from Oak Ridge Nissan is the hole-in-one prize. Door prizes of large beef and pork tenderloins and hams from East TN Distributor Inc., among other items, have become a big hit at this tournament!

Community Mediation Services has worked with youth and families for 27 years, promoting the peaceful resolution of community conflicts, using community resources. Three programs use trained volunteer mediators: Victim Offender Reconciliation Program (VORP); Visitation Mediation; and Teen/Parent Mediation. Mediators don’t take sides or make decisions, but do help people solve problems in ways that are decided and agreed upon by all. Studies show that agreements reached through mediation are more likely to be carried out than orders imposed by a judge.

Come join us! Plan on a team! You’ll have a wonderful time on the golf course and you’ll be supporting a valuable community resource.
