Mary Hensley Collett

Mary Hensley Collett, age 74, a resident of the Frost Bottom Community in Anderson County, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 16, at the Windwood Health Care Center in Clinton.

Mary was born Oct. 18, 1938, in Anderson County. She was a lifelong resident of this area.

Mrs. Collett was a homemaker, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a faithful Christian, a member of the New Mountain View Baptist Church, and a former member of the Frost Bottom Missionary Baptist Church. She was involved in several church activities, usually including the youth and music.

Mary was an accomplished musician, and she enjoyed playing the organ, piano, and accordion. She and her sisters, “The Hensley Family,” sang at area churches for five decades. She also taught music, giving piano lessons to area youth for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earnest Hensley and Eva Lowe Hensley; by sisters, Imojean Carter and Ethel Braden; and by brothers, Rev. Oscar E. Hensley and Cordell Hensley.

Mary is survived by a son, Glenn Collett and wife Evangeline of Clinton; by a nephew whom she considered as her own son, Randy Hensley and wife Terri of Clinton; by grandchildren, Celina Tinker and husband Paul, Jacob Collett and Rachel Collett, all of Clinton; and by great-grandchildren, Savanna Diggs, Addison Tinker, and Ethan Tinker.

She is also survived by sisters, Ruby Brown of Oliver Springs, Louise Seiber of Oliver Springs, and Jeanette Lively and husband R.M. of Wartburg; by brothers, Wilburn Hensley and wife Bobbie, and Willie Hensley, all of Oliver Springs; and by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and special friends, including the Seiber family, and David and Michelle Breeden.

The family will receive friends Monday, March 18, between 6 and 8 p.m. at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Lee Hickman officiating.

Burial and graveside services will be held Tuesday, March 19, at 11 a.m. at the Frost Bottom Cemetery.

The family expresses their gratitude to all who assisted in Mary’s care during her illness.
