Harold Russell Standefer

Harold Russell Standefer, age 79, of Oak Ridge, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, at his home.

He was born June 27, 1933, in Jonesboro, Ark., the son of Clarence Raymond Standefer and Berdie Mae Dalton Standefer.

Mr. Standefer retired from Lockheed Martin, where he was an architectural engineer.

He was a longtime member of Highland View Church of Christ and was always active in church activities. He enjoyed his church family, playing golf and stamp collecting, and he was an avid reader and especially enjoyed being with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to the Methodist Medical Center Cardiac Rehab Center.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Carolyn Gray Standefer, on May 19, 2011, and toddler daughter, Cathy Lynn Standefer, on March 15, 1958.

He is survived by daughters, Jana Hudspeth and husband Charles of Brookland, Ark., Jo Standefer of Oak Ridge and Jill Gardner and husband Noel of Johnson City; son, Russell Gray Standefer of Oak Ridge; sisters; Minnie Lee Beasley, Virginia Langston and husband Bill, and Sharon DeLoach and husband Harvey, all of Jonesboro, Ark.; six grandchildren, Darby Hudspeth, Tabitha Hudspeth, and Kayla Sullins, all of Brookland, Ark., and Sydney, Nick, and Lauren Gardner, all of Johnson City; and great-grandson, Tripp Sullins and friend Anita Owens of Oak Ridge.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Highland View Church of Christ. The funeral will follow at 8 p.m. with Curtis McClane officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Herb Mowery, Jay Woods, Charles Mayberry, Walker Smith, Tom Goodpasture, Nick Gardner, Noel Gardner, and Russell Standefer.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at McDaniel Cemetery in Jonesboro, Ark., with Jimmy Adcox officiating.
