David Ryan Shirley

David Ryan Shirley, age 50, of Oliver Springs, died Friday, Feb. 22, at the University of Tennessee Medical Center after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born March 30, 1962, in Oak Ridge, graduated from Oak Ridge High School, and attended East Tennessee State University. David most recently had worked for Noble Metals in Oak Ridge. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent considerable time in the Smokies.

He is survived by his mother and step-father, Helen and Len Fuller of Oak Ridge; his companion, Ginny Froehlich; brother, Joel Loy Shirley and wife Maria of Senoia, Ga.; stepbrother, Clark Fuller of Hixson, Tenn.; sister, Donna (Shirley) Smith and husband Stuart of Ft. Collins, Colo.; stepsister, Debbie (Fuller) Lane of Oak Ridge; uncle, Charles Delap of Stow, Ohio; cousin, Terry Delap and wife Janice of Broadview Heights, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday, March 3, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Weatherford Mortuary.

In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
