A Clinton woman died after her car veered off East Tri County Boulevard in Oliver Springs on Friday morning and flipped, authorities said.

Wanda Currier, 67, who lived on Marlow Road in Anderson County, died shortly after the crash at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, Oliver Springs Police Department Sgt. Kevin Armes said.

Currier had been driving westbound in a 2005 Nissan Altima near Bennett Road at about 11:04 a.m. Friday when she went off the road and down a roughly 15-foot embankment, Armes said. The vehicle landed in brush on its roof.

Investigators still haven’t determined how Currier left the road, but she didn’t appear to try to slow down or stop, suggesting she might have had medical problems—although that hasn’t been confirmed, Armes said.

He said emergency responders had to cut Currier’s seat belt to remove her from the car.

There were no signs of drugs or alcohol, and Currier was driving at about the posted speed limit of 45 mph, Armes said.

He said emergency personnel responded quickly to the scene. They included the Oliver Springs Volunteer Fire Department, Oliver Springs Police Department, and Anderson County Emergency Medical Services.
