Information from WYSH Radio and Covenant Health

Patients began moving into Roane County’s newest hospital on Sunday.

The $76 million facility in Midtown replaces the Roane Medical Center in Harriman and features 54 beds, 15 emergency suites, and more space for doctors, nurses, and patients. Each patient room also has sofas that turn into sleeper beds for those who don’t want to leave their loved ones sides while they are in the hospital.

The new hospital is located at 8045 Roane Medical Center Drive off Roane State Highway in Midtown near Pinnacle Point, a commercial shopping center located just off the Harriman/Midtown exit of Interstate 40.

Convenant said the 64-acre medical center campus includes a 145,000 square foot, state-of-the-art hospital and a 26,000 square foot professional office building.

The health system said key features of the new hospital include all private, modern patient rooms with large natural light windows, 15 emergency suites, technologically advanced surgery suites, 500 parking spaces, and enlarged and modern nursing units.

Adjacent to the hospital will be a new professional office building, which will be home to medical professionals including Thompson Oncology Group, Roane Medical Patricia Neal Outpatient Center, and Roane Medical Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation.

Roane Medical Center first received approval in April 2011 from the Tennessee Health Services and Development Agency to build the new medical center.
