Boys and Girls Club has Valentines Masquerade Gala tonight

The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Clinch Valley (formerly Oak Ridge) will hold its Valentines Masquerade Gala tonight at the Rothchild Catering and Conference Center in Knoxville.

This is the largest fundraiser of the year for the club, said Donyell “D.J.” Jones, the club’s chief professional officer.

“The proceeds from this event allow us to continue all of our programs at the club with a larger amount earmarked for our after-school homework help, Teen Programs, and STEM education opportunities,” Jones said.

This year’s event will have a slightly different theme than in previous years. To add a little variety, the planning committee decided to hand out masquerade masks to women instead of roses, a press release said.

It said masks will also be available for any men who wish to participate.

“We decided that it was time for a change and thought this would add a fun aspect to the evening,” said Ann Likens, committee chair.

The evening includes a formal dinner and open bar, silent auction, and live auction conducted by Bear Stephenson. The evening will conclude with music and dancing provided by Gann’s Entertainment.

“We invite the community to join us for a fun and exciting evening,” Jones said. “We have a lot of great auction items to date, including jewelry, gift baskets, weekend getaways, and even a golf cart.”

Tickets are $150 per couple and can be purchased from any board member or at the Club located at 102 S. Jefferson Circle in Oak Ridge. The phone number is (865) 482-4433.

The gala begins at 6 p.m. and ends at midnight. No one under 21 is admitted. Rothchilds is located at 8807 Kingston Pike in Knoxville.
