World War II Re-enactment

The Secret City Festival in Oak Ridge includes one of the largest World War II re-enactments in the South.

Preparations for the 11th Annual Secret City Festival are under way, and applications are now available online.

Vendors and exhibitors can visit www.SecretCityFestival.com and download an application to become involved in this year’s event, which will take place June 21-22 at A.K. Bissell Park.

Applications are available for arts and crafts, exhibitors, and food vendors.

Applications for TN Creates, the juried arts show, will be available at a later date. However, exhibitors interested in participating in TN Creates should contact Leah Marcum-Estes at the Oak Ridge Art Center at (865) 482-1441.

The festival also includes music, arts and crafts, food, exhibits, history displays, children’s activities, and more.

The deadline for food vendors is March 15. Applications for arts and crafts, and exhibitors are due by May 24.

“We’re very excited about this year’s festival and look forward to gathering high quality food vendors and exhibitors to feature their products at the event,” said Jane Gibson, festival coordinator. “We encourage past vendors and new exhibitors to apply for the opportunity to showcase their unique items to the community.”

“The festival is constantly evolving into a bigger and better event that draws in visitors from all over the country,” said Joye Montgomery, entertainment chairperson for the festival. “People come from all around the region to participate in the historic tours of Manhattan Project sites, the free children’s activities, historic exhibits, arts and crafts, the musical entertainment lineup, and more.”

Recently, the American Bus Association named the Secret City Festival as one of their Top 100 Events. The International and Southern Festival and Events Associations have honored the festival with several Pinnacle Awards and Kaleidoscope Awards over the past few years, including a Silver Kaleidoscope Award for Best Festival in 2011 and a Bronze award for Best Festival Website in 2012.

The 11th annual Secret City Festival is presented by the City of Oak Ridge, the Oak Ridge Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Arts Council of Oak Ridge. For more information on how to become involved or to obtain an application, call (865) 425-3610 or visit www.SecretCityFestival.com and click on Applications.
