Rev. Andrew J. (Jack) Taylor, age 84, of Clinton, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Golden Living Center-Windwood in Clinton.
Jack loved fishing, gardening, and watching girls’ softball. He pastored New Home Baptist Church in Andersonville, Dutch Valley Baptist Church, Community Baptist Church in Maynardville, Guiding Star Baptist Church in Lake City, and Stanfield Baptist Church in Elk Valley. Jack was currently a member of Hinds Creek Baptist Church.
He was also a member of the Eastern Star and Briceville Masons Crystal Lodge# 60016. Jack was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. The family would like to thank the staff of Golden Living Center-Windwood for their wonderful care.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethel Taylor; children, Carol Ann Taylor and Peggy Jean Taylor; grandchild, Brian Keith Taylor; brother, John Wesley Taylor Jr.; and sisters, Viola Hansford, Katherine Braden, Alma Jane Hilshorst, and Alice Taylor.
He is survived by wife of 62 years, Dortha Taylor, of Clinton; sons, Bobby Jack Taylor, of Clinton, Harold Franklin Taylor, of Cartersville, Ga.; daughter, Mary Bronwyn Bunch (Rev. Jackie Bunch), of Clinton; brothers, William (Bill ) Taylor and Carl James Taylor, of Clinton; grandchildren, Heather Tolley, Samantha, Andrew, Lance, and Tara Taylor, Bethany Johnson, Kayla Livingston, Marcus Bunch, and Samantha Harris; great-grandchildren, Allison, Drake and Aliveah; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Jack’s family will receive his friends on Friday, Feb. 8, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Jones Mortuary in Clinton. There will be a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. followed by his funeral service with Rev. Scott Jones and Rev. Floyd Scarbrough officiating, all in the chapel of Jones Mortuary.
His interment will be Saturday, Feb. 9, at 1 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery in Clinton, with full military honors.
